As a Great Commission ministry, Reel Life facilitates local discipleship and mobilizes believers to reach the world for Christ. Discipleship is the process by which followers of Christ teach others what they have learned. This is God’s command and design for each of His followers.
And Jesus came and said to them,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”– Matthew 28:18-20
If you are walking with Christ and able to study Scripture and pray without assistance, you are ready to teach new and untrained believers. (2 Timothy 2:2) The key is to step out in obedience and have a solid support network of mature believers around you.
On the other hand, if you are interested in exploring the claims of Christ, or a new believer interested in learning more about God’s Word, we are here for you as well. Or maybe you have never been trained in how to study and understand the Scriptures. We would love to come alongside and help you grow to become a mature believer who is “complete, fully equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:17)
Overflow Discipleship
“As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundred fold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”– Matthew 13: 23
Through our Overflow Discipleship Initiative, we provide training, systems and structures to help believers become more effective disciple makers. Reel Life simply comes alongside the local church to encourage the people of God to engage with Him in His mission.
As followers of Christ, we have been graciously chosen to be His ambassadors, taking His message across the street and around the world. Our calling to make disciples does not end until we breath our last breath, so we are to be continually equipped so that we may equip others also. So the question becomes, what role are you willing you play?
Biblical discipleship was best modeled by Jesus himself, where he provided verbal instruction to his disciples and then went out and ministered alongside them. Jesus made disciples by inviting those who were not in relationship with Him to begin following Him.Making disciples involves bringing others into relationship with Christ, whereas training disciples fosters the spiritual development of believers so that they may resemble, know and enjoy Him more deeply. To follow Christ is to faithfully pursue making disciples as well as training disciples for the purpose of multiplication. Jesus modeled life on life, obedience-based discipleship so that we might be complete, equipped and able to equip others for every good work which he has prepared in advance for us to do. (2 Timothy 3:17, James 1:22, Ephesians 2:10)
“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered;
It is a command to be obeyed.”– Hudson Taylor
We are called to engage in faithful discipleship within our own families. (Ephesians 5:25-27, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:4) But this is just the beginning, far from a life fully leveraged to multiply followers of Christ. Glorifying God by making disciples is the highest and best use of our lives, and one to which we should be most committed.
Reel Life works to help followers of Christ become more effective in reproducing themselves in the lives of others. If you would like to get engaged, have questions, or even like to be discipled yourself, please contact us at info@reel-life.org.
