Avail-Ability
Isaiah 6:8
God doesn’t need your ability.
He only asks for your availability.
People often put too much pressure on themselves. I know I do. We take the problems of today – and even the potential problems of tomorrow – and assume all of the pressures of those problems on ourselves.
Think about it. The God of all creation, the God who owns “the cattle on a thousand hills”, the God who holds the universe in His hands doesn’t need our help. He’s has everything under control. All the time.
We need to remind ourselves of this often, even daily. I know I do.
God doesn’t need your ability. He only asks for your availability. Remember when Jesus fed the 5,000? He could have performed that miracle any number of ways. But He chose to use the 5 loaves and 2 small fish of a boy. He chose to use what the boy made available to Him, no matter how small of an offering it was. The boy’s availability, together with God’s Ability, resulted in a miracle.
And so it is today. God doesn’t need your ability. He only asks for your availability. Perhaps God is calling you, as He did the prophet Isaiah, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me.” He may be calling you to something that that seems significant, or He may be calling you to something that seems very insignificant. In either case, God will use your availability to accomplish His purposes.
Make your time, talents, and treasure available to God and He will multiply it for the good of His people and for His glory.
