Merry Christmas!
Matthew 2:2
One of the many wonderful hymns of Christmastime is “Angels from the Realm of Glory”. While you may not immediately recognize it by its title, you are most likely familiar with its refrain,
Come and worship, come and worship
Christ the newborn King!
Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the newborn King.
Jesus was born a king. When the wisemen heard of His birth, they asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:2) The wisemen knew that Jesus was not only a king, but was also worthy of worship.
Jesus is the long-promised King that will eternally reign on the throne of David. Jesus is the One who said “My kingdom is not of this world.” (John 18:36) Jesus explained what the Kingdom of God is like and made a way for us to be there with Him. And after Jesus had redeemed us from sin and been raised from the dead, “he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.” (Mark 16:19)
Jesus Christ, the newborn King, is worthy of our worship. So today, and every day, we are invited to “Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ the newborn King!”
