God So Loves You
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned,
but whoever does not believe stands condemned already
because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
John 3:16-18
Good Friday is the day Christians remember the ultimate demonstration of God’s love for us. God so loves you and me that He gave His one and only Son. He gave Jesus to the world knowing that the world would reject Him, brutally beat Him, and put Him to death by crucifixion. God so loved the world.
God did not send Jesus into the world to condemn the world. No, the world –each and every person in the world – stands condemned already. Romans 1:11-12 makes this abundantly clear, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
But God sent His one and only Son! God sent Jesus to save us – to rescue us – from our sin and the consequence that we each deserve – eternal separation from God in Hell.
Easter Sunday is the day we celebrate Jesus’ victory over death. Death could not hold Him. The grave could not keep Him. Jesus’ victory over death opened the door for all who will believe in Him to also have eternal life.
If you repent of your sin and put your faith in Jesus, you will be saved. You will be saved today. You will not perish. You will have eternal life. God so loves you. This is the Good News of Jesus!
