Let me help you carry that
Galatians 6:2
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2
Do you want to go God’s Will? Help to carry the burdens of those around you and you will be on your way to doing God’s Will. Galatians 6:2 even goes so far as to say that in doing this “you will fulfill the law of Christ!”
There are almost certainly people in your life who are dealing with trials, suffering, or loss at this very moment. While it may be uncomfortable to step into their world, the love of Christ compels us to reach out to them, to be there for them, and to help them carry their burdens. When we face loss, the love of God expressed through the kindness of His people gives us comfort, strength, and “a peace that surpasses all understanding”. As followers of Christ, we are commanded to be there for those in need.
Isn’t this the very point of the Parable of the Good Samaritan? Jesus asked, “Who do you think was a neighbor to the man?” (Luke 10:36) The one who was a neighbor to the man was the one who put himself at risk, who took on the expenses of a stranger, and who showed tangible love to the man in need. Jesus concludes the parable with the command for all of His followers, “Go and do likewise.” (Luke 10:37)
Look around you today. Ask God to open the eyes of your heart to see the needs of others. Be there for them, help to carry their burdens, and point them to the only One who can give them true rest for their souls.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
