Will Be Saved
“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
Acts 2:17-21
In the early morning hours of this past Tuesday November 8, there was what’s called a “Blood Moon”. You may be interested to know that the Blood Moon is referenced in the Bible. First, as a prophecy in the book of Joel and then it is repeated in Acts in the passage above. While there is much to learn about prophecies, I want to draw your attention to the final verse above.
“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” What a wonderful truth this is! Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord – on the name of Jesus – will be saved. It is a fact! Acts 4:12 further tells us, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
Romans 10:14-15 points out our responsibility in this, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
It is every believer’s responsibility to proclaim the name of the Lord to all nations, tribes, peoples, and languages. We are commanded to “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). As we do, the Lord will save all of those who respond by calling on His Name!
