My God will meet all your needs
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19
The Bible is full of glorious truths and promises from God. The book of Philippians contains some of the richest of these promises. As we approach the week of Thanksgiving, let’s break down this verse and give thanks to our God who promises to meet all of our needs.
“And my God” … The God who promises to meet all of your needs is not some impersonal force. He is the God who cares. He is “my God” as Paul writes. My God has chosen me to be His own. And my God loves me.
“will meet” … This is a promise. This is certain. Not a maybe. My God will meet all your needs.
“all your needs” … My God promises to meet all of your needs. Not some of your needs; all of your needs. Of course, we must distinguish between needs and wants here. But, as we are exhorted earlier in the chapter, we need not be anxious about anything, but rather by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make our requests known to God. (Philippians 4:6)
“according to the riches of His glory” … My God has infinite resources. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He is the living water that never runs dry. My God will meet all your needs out of the storehouse of the riches of His glory. My God has got this.
“in Christ Jesus” … We have all of our needs met in Christ Jesus. Jesus is enough. Jesus is sufficient. When we put our full faith and hope in Jesus, we see that He is indeed all that we need.
As we approach the week of Thanksgiving, let us “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.” (Psalm 136:1)
