I LOVED this trip! I had no idea what to expect, so I tried not to bring my American expectations with me. Because of that, I feel like I brought back so much knowledge about a different culture, so much insight about myself (thanks to the quiet time), so much hope for the future of my girls and so many great tools to use to witness to my “1st world” friends.
I even loved the time spent in the kitchen and the good honest labor of doing the dishes. I talked at length with my girls about the fact that this was not a vacation- this was a time to serve. I think each person used his or her talents and gifts to contribute and it turned out to be meaningful and powerful in my life AND in my girls’ lives.
